The abandoned Ellis Island Hospital—once the standard for United States medical care—has been left to decay for nearly 60 years. Sitting in New York Harbor, Ellis Island welcomes millions of visitors per year to the National Immigration Museum on the north side of the island, while the hospital complex on the south side has remained largely untouched and off-limits to the public since 1954. We are now taking you back inside the abandoned hospital for a unique urban exploration experience. This exclusive Ellis Island hard hat tour will take you behind-the-scenes through the abandoned facilities, including the laundry building, autopsy room, infectious and contagious disease wards. You will also see on this urbex tour the site specific exhibition, "Unframed," installed by the world-renowned artist JR who has placed life-sized historic photographs of Ellis Island immigrants on walls of the hospital buildings.
Your tour includes transportation, Ferry Ride, Ellis Island Hard Hat Tour and outside viewing of the Statue of Liberty. Be sure to bring a bagged lunch as meal options are limited at Ellis Island.
Seats are limited for this tour. Please book early before they have sold out. We have never offered a tour such as this before! Be one of the first to see what the old abandoned Ellis Island Hospital looks like now.
